How to Reach Your Full Potential as a Woman in Business

Sep 25, 2021

Potential is when you have Clarity of what is out in front of you. It’s about possibility and your compass to say yes to the right things – and not take on everything! It is what allows you to evolve and grow as a leader and as a person. It drives your satisfaction and fulfillment in what you do.

But what can happen, though, is that we play it safe. We continue to play small because then we don’t have to risk anything, especially failure. We don’t risk being judged or making a mistake.

If you’ve started having a feeling that there is something more for you, pay attention to it! It is a sign from your unconscious that you ARE READY to move to the next level, and it’s time to get curious.

Maybe the thought that there has to be something more than this keeps popping into your head.

You might feel that you’re in a rut, that your job has become the same old, same old.

It could be that you have a sense that it’s time to uplevel, and the thought is simultaneously exciting and scary at the same time!

These are all signs that it’s time to tap into your full potential. You are ready!

WHO

As a woman in leadership, whether that’s the C Suite, Upper Management, or as the CEO of your career and life, there is no better feeling of accomplishment than that of becoming the person you are meant to be. It is a metamorphosis of sorts that allows you to shed what isn’t supporting you any longer to move into a new version of yourself. Personally and professionally.

HOW

So, how do you go about doing this? Great question! Here are some tips to help you start the journey because it is a journey, not a one-and-done evaluation.

Start Digging!

As Joyce Meyer says, “Potential is a priceless treasure, like gold. All of us have gold within, but we have to dig to get it out.” To start digging, you need really good questions. What are you good at in your role? What do you enjoy? What is easy for you to do? What are you curious about? What are your weaknesses? What do you hate doing? What is painful for you to do? It’s essential to know both sides of the equation. What you resonate with and what you want to avoid. It’s all great information. You can also dig with the input of others and ask what their thoughts are about the same questions. Be brave enough to ask for that feedback. You deserve it!

Start Exploring.

Once you have Clarity in some directions where your potential could be, starting exploring these directions with curiosity. Challenge yourself to step outside of your comfort zone and into the discomfort on the other side of it. That is where your growth opportunity lies. It will likely be something you’ve never done before, but it’s calling to you for a reason. For example, you might be really good at numbers; what sort of roles, projects, or tasks might this lead you to? How about a higher-level role with more P & L responsibility? You might be a natural relationship-builder, so are sales, community development, or coaching teams something that might be cool for you? Be curious and explore these. Don’t let the “But I’ve never done it before!” get in your way. You’re being led in this direction for a reason. Find out why.

Take action and leverage your gifts.

Start leveraging these natural gifts. The entire process is only as valuable as the action you pair with it. How can you start stepping up or stepping into opportunities, whether tasks, projects, or a new role, that allows you to leverage what you are brilliant at? What can you say yes to that will enable you to move beyond where you are? Tap into your network to see how they can help you in this part of the process. Who can mentor you and bring out these so you can expand upon them? Find people to help hold you accountable.

Let the new information you uncover lead you toward new possibilities. What is inside you is just waiting to get out. It’s the next level of who you are in your leadership and life!

Here’s wishing you the Clarity you deserve and creating MORE success with less sacrifice!
